Desert Animal Life
There is a diverse abundance of animals in the desert, each with unique adaptations. Jackrabbits have long ears to cool them down, and they're quick runners to escape predators such as the coyote. Rattlesnakes blend in really well with the surroundings so they can hunt. The rattle is used to warn off predators. Scorpions are equipped with sharp pincers and a poisonous stinger on its tail to protect itself.
Deep in the Australian Outback, you can find the odd looking Thorny Devil. Thorny Devil's have three special adaptations. One is that it looks like a rock or sand, so it blends in well. Another is the spines that cover it. No predator wants to eat this little guy. Perhaps the most unique adaptation is the way it drinks. There are tubes on its back that run into its mouth. The tubes are there so when water falls on its back, it can go right to it's mouth. Also the tubes can hold water, which is good for the dry season, or long stretches without fresh water
