Physical Features
One of the biggest features in all deserts is sand. Sand stretches as far as the eye can see, often forming gigantic dunes. These are more likely to be found in Africa, South America and Asia.
Deserts in North America are known for having elaborate rock formations, which were caused by water erosion. Deserts in Australia are plain and simple. All they are is flat.
Either the precipitation level is extremely high or extremely low. This picture shows a desert while the rain clouds are parting. Can you identify where this desert may be located? As well as to flash floods, deserts are also very susceptible to sand storms and dust devils. (Tornados that pick up sand) Because of the lack of rain, minerals in the soil are not washed away, and the soil therefore is salty.
