Temperate Grassland Plant Life
Perennial grasses (right) and perennial forbs (left) are very popular in the temperate grassland. Both plants adapt to survive without water for a very long time. Buffalo grass is well adapted to survive droughts. It forms deep and tangled root mats that collect water. Because of this complex root system, it can regrow after fires quickly. Stalks of grass are very flexible, so they don't break in the strong winds.
